Done 2,000 posts - this should be 2,001.
Lurked on these forums for some years and got a few good tips and liked the good natured humour of some and the cruising experiences some put effort in to tell. So just over a year ago promised myself that I would do 2,000 posts trying, in the main to be constructive (but realising how dangerous that could be) as penance for what I had already taken, and then lurk again.
Things that have become clearer over that year are:
Some really good experiences and knowledge amongst a comparatively few posters but generally overwhelmed by the poor advice of others.
Sure am glad that I have always been able to afford new boats, would hate to inherit a butchered used one.
Easily confirmed that MoBo's are, as a generalisation, more accommodating (less arrogant?) in their behaviour on the water than Raggies.
Gained some friends (albeit long distance ones) and even more appreciated the good humour of some from their occasional PM's - special thanks for that. Gained some enemies too, fortunately they cannot throw bricks through my windows from 12,000 miles away /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.
So, MainlySteam goes to the executioner after this post (to the delight of some I am sure). However, I will continue to post as Ships_Cat but only from a yarning and perhaps (sometimes) mischievous point of view - and anything interesting in our summer cruises here in NZ. I have Teach Yourself Scottish on order /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.
Thanks everyone
John
