Went to the Town Quay for the first time since they expanded it this week , The cost was £34 (boat is 9.45m).

On arrival we found out the shower and toilets were being renovated (why did they not do this in the winter?) but temporary showers & toilets were on site, however, the council had locked the toilets so no toilets and had not turned on the water for the showers, so no showers.

How much did the council or HM pay to site these temp facilities and them leave them locked and no water? A disabled toilet was offered with no running water, Interestingly it was sited on top of the steps so useless for anyone in a wheelchair.

Harbourmaster tried to help and gave us the code for the sailing club showers, although they had no contact with the council to turn on the water or open the toilets.

After some negotiation the mooring was reduced to £25.

Won't return in a hurry........

Sounds like a sad state of affairs ?

I didnt think so, easy to complain about the temporary facilities, but its only the case because the permanent one is being refurbed which is a good thing right?

Smashing spot, we love the hustle and bustle, doesnt seem worse for the walk ashore being larger to me.

For those seekibg more quiet there's some visitor bouys across the river which were empty... so obvs not popular.

I think the bumper stickers said” You are better off at Berthon” but I believe Dan Brown also has somewhat less attractive berths as well although again I believe lacking facilities. If as said it’s £34 for sub 10m vessel my money would be at Berthon for the extra say£5 per night per crew member perhaps but maybe it’s the ambience which appeals to some. I much prefer views from Lym yacht haven out across the Solent to Yarmouth personally .

I fully understand the refurb has to be done, my beef is that 6 temp toilets and showers were installed which is fine but the council apparently forgot to unlock them and turn on the water so a waste of taxpayers money.
