Lymington Marinas

Any advice/recommendations on marinas in the Lymington area? I've just bought a house in Lymington, it's rented out at the moment but I should move in at the end of 2011, looking to get a Seaward 25 or similar for Solent pottering. Thanks

You can try dry berthing it at the yacht haven dry berth just next to the town quay. It may have slightly shorter waiting lists than the marinas, and can cope with up to 10m, though no idea what waiting lists are like generally in Lymington now. Might be better off asking in Mobo or Scuttlebutt forums for most up to date info,

Hi,
Your choices are Bethron or Yacht Haven. Both around the same price per metre and neither known to be cheap! Both are well run facilities with helpful staff.

The Marina Manager at Berthon posts on Scuttlebutt fairly regularly, so a post on there might get some up to date information. If you can't get a permanent berth, you may nevertheless be able to get a long term temporary arrangement and once you're in situ they might be able to accommodate you thereafter, even if it means moving you around from time to time.

As a local resident you'll be able to go on to the waiting list for a (cheap) council mooring but the churn rate is slow, I believe......

Blimey, I've not been in here before - a bit dank and gloomy, innit! ?

There are no waiting lists per se, because availability depends whether your boat will fit in neatly or not. ie A big boat cant go in a small berth, but nor can a small boat realistically go in a big berth.

River moorings, run by the Harbour commissioners not the council, are very long waiting time (assume 10yrs plus), but again depends on whose nearest the top of the list with a boat that will fit whatever space is available.

I wont go into the benefits of one marina over another but if you PM your email address, I will provide more information.
