Lyme bay at night

How about lyme bay at night. I want to get back to the solent but it seems to be blowing hard in the day but calmer at night , west to east, as long as I get to the bill in daylight , what's the worry ?

I think pot buoys would be a concern for me at night even though I prefer night sailing. The south coast can be troublesome with the little devils. The navigation is straightforward.

Edit: As you say you'd like to transit when the weather is calmer I assumed that you then may be forced to proceed at least part of the way under engine to maintain your desired speed.

Yup, I’ve done it overnight under sail W-E but stood well off. I’d be very uncomfortable doing it under power closer in without an IR camera.

I’ve done it at night, taking the offshore route round the Bill. No problem when I did it, a couple of years ago.

Did the offshore route, back to the Solent, at night a couple of months ago. Under sail, decent weather, had no issues.

I've done it a few times.

No pot buoys in the middle of the bay.
