Have bought outboard brand new, trouble is manual virtually useless, says fuel mixture 25:1, no mention of running in mix or after, yet they supply a mixing bottle saying 35:1, sent 4 e.mails to manufacturers in China, got no answer to any of them. Any owners of this engine would like to hear from, & how they solved?

@151Tml , I'd love to hear your opinion on the engine, when you've tried it.

I can give you a bit of a review:

I bought mine 9 months ago (Nov '23) and have used it about 6 times for a couple of hours at a time.

I use it to move my 19ft Mirror Offshore on the canal. Most the time I use an electric motor, but the batteries limit the distance. The Hangkai gets used for longer (6 miles ish) journeys.

It is noisy
It is smoky (I'm still in the run in period)
Everything is constantly shaking loose, due to...
It vibrates alarmingly

That said:
It was very cheap
It starts first time, every time
It is light and easy to carry
It does the job I need it to do.

I am happy that I have got what I paid for and would recommend it to someone in my situation. Plus, if it got stolen it wouldn't be a massive hit to my wallet.

In terms of performance it will push a 850kg displacement boat along at 4mph (speed limit) on still water, but would struggle to go faster.
The fuel tank is listed as 1.3 litres (which seems about right) and this lasts over an hour of constant use.
It gets quite warm after two hours of use, but that is not really surprising.

My 4 year old Hangkai 3.5 is now available for repair/spares. Turns over and ran 18 months ago, but fiddling with carb and new plug doesn't start.
Collect from the SW and £10 cash.

I've decided to get one of these after looking into other peoples experiences with them. Based on those I'll make the following modifications.

I'll replace the screws holding the pull start on. The metal is soft and if you take the heads off the screws theyre a pain to get off. I might replace other bolts and screws too.

I'll put beeswax on the pull start cord as apparently this will extend its life.

Corrosion in saltwater is an issue with these so I'll see if I can attach an anode and regularly spray WD40 under the cover. I might put some zinc paint on parts of it.

One guys fuel lines failed and started leaking. Pretty dangerous. He warns against ethanol. As we in the UK have no alternative to ethanol I'll change the fuel lines and primer bulb.
