I went yesterday and enjoyed the show. Better than sitting at home waiting for sailing season to come around again!

We looked around a few boats, convinced myself I'm happy with my old boat, and bought a couple of bits and bobs.

Indeed it is another world. The £23,000 tender was an eye opener!
 
I really don't understand why people are so negative about the show - its not compulsory to go and if you do then its exactly what you make it - we went and had a great day out as we always do - chatted to a few people we know, looked round the boats on display and bought a few bits - it marks the start of the new sailing year for us, a boaty day out and better than sitting at home!!

Hanse was good though... I was fairly disappointed by Bav and the French ones which were on the other side... I think the quality went down... or I am becoming older ;)
 
stands at southampton were giving tickets away for london like confetti, most of the chandlers had coils of them at the till.
I have never bought a ticket in my life for a boat show, just phone a dealer and express an interest in something and ask if they are at the show, sibs or london ticket in the post sir.

Just need to get my free tickets for dusseldorf

It's not about being negative. It's just comparing with what it used to be. And in my case, having maybe a few more NM under my belt. I don't really see the point anymore. But I accept it might be a personal opinion as I had nothing to buy. I am only going to keep in touch with what's going on in terms of novelties. And I wasn't that impressed. But not a big deal...

Not specifically pointed at you but to all the moaners:

There are some (probably many) like me, who are new to the boating world since the days of when ever Earls court ever existed. I can assure you, the annual "london boat show is rubbish", is no where near as rubbish as all your moaning.

It's been THIRTEEN YEARS since it was at Earls court. Do we have to put up with this forever until literally you all die off?

Newbie. The moaning was far better thirteen years ago. Modern moaning is bland, mass-produced rubbish.
 
I went yesterday (Sunday) and got in for £10 (price dropped from £22 at 3pm). Spent 3 hours happily browsing.

Me and the missus were walking past and they gave us £10 each to go in. ;-)

We ripped them off because we only stayed for 15 minutes.
 
It's certainly improved since it first went to Excel and having the family there and us having the mindset of it being just a boating themed family day out helped.

LIBS was great for the family this year but as for planning your route I'm not sure the hall is quite big enough to justify a planned route! But I'm not knocking it, we really enjoyed it.
