My old Stowe micro 210 log has given good service for many years but has now developed a very irritating fault. It appears that one or more of the wires which protrude from the transducer have broken as it will only give a reading intermittently and then only when I wiggle the wires around a bit. It works for a few seconds then stops. The head is fine, the paddle wheel turns so it goes against the grain to replace it for something so apparently simple. My inclination is to get stuck in and attempt to disassemble and repair the transducer but it looks as if it is a sealed unit. I’ve nothing to lose by trying, but I have no idea what I am likely to find inside. Has anyone any experience of taking such a thing apart?
(before anyone suggests it, Stowe Marine no longer manufacture replacement transducers)
