The log on my boat has stopped working. It seems that what I assume to be a magnet has dropped out of the paddle wheel. The"log" was manufactured by STOWE. What has happened to them. They seem to have vanished.

It's a magnet on one of the blades of the impeller that operates a reed switch inside the transducer housing. Its much more likely that the reed switch has failed.

STOWE (who in their original identity used to live less than 300yds from me) sold out to become SIMRAD-STOWE. Since then I'm sure there's been another takeover but can't at the moment recall the name.

Give SIMRAD a cal, tell them it is a query about a Stowe instrument and ask to speak to the STOWE people - they all work for SIMRAD. They are extremely [and willingly] helpful about all the Stowe range which they still support.

Last year I was put through to the Stowe expert who dealt with my [stupid] question most helpfully.

I think that you will find that it is a magnet so that it can cause an electromagnetic pulse upto the log unit.

Best wishes

I got this exact item from them last year...he is running out of them. I think it was around £25.
