Hi,I have obtained a secondhand Lofran Manual windlass, Ive never used one therefore could any of you forumites explain the haul up operation of a combined rope and chain anchor warp,
I have tried Lofrans website for this information which is sparse they mention that when
hauling in rope /plus chain to give two clockwise turns with the rope warp around the rope drum. Looking forward the chain wheel gypsy is on the starboard side in line with the bowroller and the rope drum on the portside so to apply the rope around the drum I would have to come from the gypsy across the back of the winch and round the drum.Is this right
or am I completely misunderstanding the operation and having a senior moment. Also I have tried (without success ) to download a manual for servicing the windlass, your advice would be very appreciated. Thank you.
