Lockdown sailing

Some of us have more experience than others. Unfortunately contracting, dying from or someone else close to dying from does not make someone an expert in epidemiology or somehow make them a better source of evidence than proper rigorous research. Hopefully it would sharpen someone's caution, inspire to learn perhaps but using that individual's personal viewpoint of anecdotal evidence as something to apply to everyone is not just risky it's flat out dangerous.
perhaps if you did have a bit of experience then you would have something better to say than that sanctimonious sensationalist clap trap .. obv your exp is limited , fyi , contracting does not mean " dying " for the vast majority of people , most of whom do not even need any sort of treatment / medication . obv you adhere to hysterical herd mentality which pervades your country and this forum. anyway , if you want too continue then at least wait until you have some experience of it .

i am just wondering if you have any experience at all of it , you seem to be more content arguing pedantics , which you might not be if you had actually been involved in any way and had any real knowledge .

Oh dear, well at least that's some some sort of admission that you don't see value in reasoned, fact based, discussion.

It would be pedantic if I pointed out that you think I'm arguing semantics not pedantics, but you're right, I'm no more an epidemiologist than you are, which is why I take my advice from experts rather than someone who knows someone who had it.

Wow that's insulting. I don't recall insulting yourself anywhere and if I did (these things are entirely possible) I apologize. Whether I have personal experience is frankly and to paraphrase yourself, none of your business and nor does it have an impact on science. I do not adhere to the 'hysterical herd', I look at the science and the science of Covid is frankly terrifying. It seemingly kills more or less at random and it may not kill two people who share very similar attributes. The scary thing is not that it does this, but we don't know why.

It's like playing russian roulette with a hundred smarties and three of them are lethal and 30 will just make you feel like you had a great weekend without any of the alcohol. It's not the fact that only three of them will kill you, but that you don't know which ones.

Science and Mathematics save lives, heresay, rumour and 'well it didn't kill me' puts people in danger.

to pharaphrase a famous saying,,, just how unlucky do you feel ? i guess we are " lucky " up here , i know of 50+ people who were infected , not one of them required medication / treatment . ( prob is , your " mathematics " are very flawed and i would not be getting too wound up by them )

OMG, I never said you were an epidemiologist. In fact, I expressly said that like me, you're not an epidemiologist, which is why your opinion on Coronavirus is irrelevant.
my point was never about ( my knowledge of ) the virus !! you still have not read ,,, but whatever , i dont suppose you will now .

Up where are you lucky?

Up where are you lucky?
Were all 50+ people you know tested?
NO,, that was my point re statistics , ( nothing to do with my knowledge or lack off or opinion of CV as an illness / virus, that was missconstrued by another to confuse the issue ), of those 50 odd people only 5 are known to have been tested ( all poss ) all others showed symptoms to greater or lesser degree and all self isolated . i cant give anymore details

Here... watch this...

Epidemics don't happen all at once, particularly when suppression measures such as social distancing are in place. What we're not going to like is the second wave. This epidemic is going to be going on in six months time hopefully to a lesser degree.

Sweden, 1549 deaths as of Sunday, no lockdown, social distancing in force.

I was as happy as anyone else to adhere to the guidelines initially, but some of us aren’t fortunate enough to be retired in full salary pensions. We need to start working again soon, but I fear the PM has rather lost his nerve since his recent brush with death.

I see. So "up here" might be Orkney or it might be an arse out of which you speak. :ROFLMAO:

Sweden has a population of around 10 million, stretched across a landmass bigger than the whole UK. The UK has 60 million in not much more than half that space. Net result - Sweden has a much lower population density than the UK.

They may indeed have a better solution but it's had to tell yet and absolute numbers of deaths rather than relating them to the population are a particularly unhelpful statistic in a sea of poor and/or incompatible statistics. IIRC they are also earlier in the cycle. Post #25 here appears to be from a local What is the state of Boat Lockdown in the UK?
