My husband and I are very interested in a LM 30 as our next boat. We are keen to hear about their sailing performance and would really appreciate a test sail so we can feel how she sails. We would obviously be happy to make a contribution for this. We’re based on the Essex coast but are happy to travel. I hope someone can help us.

I'd assumed the LM30 was a motor sailor but came across a German couple with one in Norderney. They'd been all over: up to the North Cape plus the fjords; three times round Britain and once round Ireland as well. We all left together and I was surprised by sailing performance. Ate with them and saloon was comfy for four.
Can't help with test sail but good luck

We saw lots of LMs in the Baltic this year (Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway) but we never actually saw one sailing - it became a standing joke between us - even in good winds, they always seemed to be motoring. That's not to say that they do not sail well - it is just an observation that we made this year.

Very many thanks for your post. We actually noticed ‘M’ this weekend. If you have any details, please let me know and I'll contact you via your web address email to maintain the boat owner's privacy.

A friend of mine has an LM32 which I guess is not too different. Its an absolute dog! Goes anywhere, takes whatever is thrown at it and is surprisingly comfortable. Not very good to windward but solid. Has legs so it can be beached, but piccy below shows it leant against the wall at Tenby. Not a racer obviously but great for pottering and longer distance comfort sailing.
