Liveaboard Speedboat???

You could always ask that french guy(?) who used to hang out here. .....Trou something, ...Trou ....Trou ....Trou - oh yes Trouvile.

It's not April 1st yet is it. It's not that warm.

anyone got any funny or terrible stories about having guests on board?

Yes. My friends had the chav family from hell. Eight of them with an average weight of 25 stone and complete with granny on her Lardy Trolley.

The waterline sank by about 18" and even two 360hp engines couldn't get them on the plane. Drank the boat dry, blocked the heads and then argued about payment.

Probably the longest day of their lives.

This has got to be a troll.
Some quotes that say this person is either taking the micky or is more naive than is believable:

How much does it cost to maintain an old speedboat?! If something major goes wrong with the engines it's £30 an hour plus parts, If something else goes wrong, it's insured
!! Please, tell me the name of your insurers! Or the size of your premiums!

if by the time we've done the boat up …. it turns out ….that we can't charter it out in the Med then we'll take it out there, and it'll just have to cost us £5000 a year to own it. Big deal, if we see it only 5 weeks a year, it's still cheaper than a normal holiday.
!!!!!!

if it turns out we need an extra life jacket to take it to Malta then we'll invest the extra £28 and get one.
An extra lifejacket to meet a new code!!! I have seen a CORGI surveyor and an MCA surveyor insisting on mutually exclusive multi thousand pound modifications.

It doesn’t feel like Trouville though.

Is it common parlance out in the Med to call a 60' fast motoryacht - for - charter a speedboat ?

I had a speedboat once, it was 14' long. You wouldn't want to live on it though.

Did I read right about a budget of £5k pa to run & keep ? Tad light maybe. The 21' er costs that & more. Might be prudent to add that '0' at the end.

Nice idea though, hope it works out.

Anteak, I was assuming that Trouvile had re-emerged as - Chris whateverhisnamewos - from Norway. This is exactly the same guy - note how he laid into Christer earlier in the thread as per his previous incarnation. Talking of carnations, they are nearly out in Portugal!

We thought it was a troll as I said some 30+ posts ago and we've all been feeding him.
It's got to be a wind up, nobody is that stupid and obnoxious even with a *60' speedboat*

Trouvile has been missing for long enough so my votes for him, away why tell the truth when a bloody good lie will do.

Doesn't read like trouville (who is active elsewhere)- English is different. More like the person who posted the question about bringing a Us boat into europe/health regs/anchors (which has gone, I think....).. and viking chris.

If you will believe me I thought it a troll from the initial post but, having been flamed a few times for my cynicism, played along with it to see how it developed.

Normal pattern of innocence, contradiction, high dudgeon, apology, hurt feelings, anger and bile........then they disappear for a few months for a personality transplant. Great fun.

I found an old bag of rancid troll food I had to get rid of anyway.

You watch. he will be back soon - mortally offended by our responses to his 'perfectly reasonable question'. Look out for:

"I thought all you boaty people were supposed to befriendly but you are a load of [--word removed--] [--word removed--]"
