Any idea's to where I can liveaboard in the marina's of the mainland solent area? I have not contacted any as yet. Just in case I have to use another tack. Don't want to ruin my chances if the enquiry is logged!

Thanks

Mark

You've probably got it sorted by now but if not I think Southsea Marina entertain it or possibly Island Harbour up the Medina. Both can only be accesed HW+/- 2-3hrs but apart from that are pleasant and less commercial than the better known (ie more expensive) alternatives

You could try Lauren Marine, which is on Hazel rd, Woolston, Southampton. Its right opposite Shamrock Quay on the Itchen. Its cheap, very rough and ready, quite small so may not have room, but friendly. Its good for doing jobs on the boat too - no-one minds use of angle-grinder, and can use the owners workshop if you ask nicely and placate the dog beneath the work bench. Owners name is danny.

I can thoroughly recommend Southsea - we kept our boat there for 6 or 7 years before heading to the Med for a year. On our return we surveyed most of the Solent Marinas and Southsea was not only the cheapest but also one of very few to accept liveaboards. Yes it has a few draw backs - our boat at 47ft is a bit too big for our current berth and access is limited to a few hours either side of high water but its friendly and there's a great social life amongst the berth holders.

I am in the same boat (ha, ha) as yourself. I'd be interested to know if you make any progress. So far I have drawn a blank on Lymington, Hamble, Yarmouth and Cowes and I had heard that it wasn't even worth trying Buckler's Hard or Beaulieu River.
I'd be most grateful if you could let me know if you have any success.
