Just seen another of the daytime "RNLI on the Thames" prog, and this time they took the Thames crews to Dover.
Anyway I'm looking at the Lifeboat moored inside Dover and I said to my missus, I moored right behind that last time I was in Dover, shot in to shelter from the F 6-7, 3m plus waves we'ed had since Ramsgate that day.
Then they take the Thames crew out and its blowing 7-8 (typical outside Dover mixed seas) and the waters coming over the top and the helmsmans picking his way through using steering and throttles at wait for it 20 knts....
I was doing just that on the aforementioned day, the picking bit, but
certainly not 20 knts. More like 8-10 on the Trader 44 I was on.
