80 amps isn't going to weld much.
I've a crappy stick welder that goes up to 120 amps and I've never managed to strike an arc below 100 amps.
I used to have a beautiful oil cooled welder that went up to 180 amps and it was so easy to use. (should never have sold that) You get what you pay for.

I use an old junior hacksaw blade held in mole grips and heated to red hot on the hob to cut and seal ropes. I cut about 10 on the boat yesterday (new running rigging and reefing lines).

I must admit I have 2 of the Aldi gas soldering irons which come with a hot knife blade, great for cutting rope and although some of the soldering tips on the older ione are past their best well worth the money, far better than electric, especially on the boat
