LIBS

Off there on Wednesday pm, anyone else about?

We went today. It was lacklustre and disappointing. I don't think I'll go again. I heard gossip from someone on the Raymarine stand that Princess, Sunseeker and ANOther (can't remember who) had decided that visitor numbers don't support both LIBS and SIBS and they'll only be supporting one next year. Even the Guiness stand was empty.

I went on Friday and quite enjoyed it. But that was I guess because I met up with some chums and had a number of questions to ask which I was able to do, given it was not too busy. But I know what Lil means. It does miss a central feature - and perhaps other things.

well you should find plenty of staff to talk to. I was the only customer on the raymarine stall and they had about 20 staff sitting around picking their bums and looking quite glum!

I did find this when I went to the Raymarine stand to get some advice. They all seemed busy talking to each other! Eventually managed to get one bloke's attention and then they couldn't be more helpful.

Off tomorrow, Tuesday. First time for 2-3 yrs. Will be interesting to see the difference. One son is coming so expect will have to visit the cycle bit too as he's keen on that.

Observations from Saturday...:
1. No Beneteau and (from memory) only Jeanneau, Bavaria, Moody, Oyster, Southerly, Crabbers showing cruisers.

2. Much lower numbers of small marine related retailers.

3. Obviously the place to sit on a massage chair, there seemed to be dozens of these...

4. Spent nothing at all (unusually) on boat stuff

They seem to pack a few manufacturers down the stairs away from everyone else. These are dealerships rather than big, flashy manufacturers stands but there was representation from Dehler/Hanse, Bav, Legend, Gunfleet, J-boats, Mystery.

Well we went. Overall enjoyed the visit but it was quiet. Poor range of sailing boats so if you were looking for a particular type little to compare. Asked a few questions on the emptyish stands.. Only bought a pair of shoes.
J-boat chap reckoned the fee to exhibit was £50K; apparently Beneteau budget was 400,000 euros & they were not there to make a point...... Can't see a good outlook for the show at this price and numbers.

Just got back after having 5 hours there, which probably wasn't enough.

Long chats with MES for electronics, Bruntons for a prop, ASAP for general bits and pieces. Some old friends, Simrad and Icom for advice. Missed Sea Teach and Imray.

Good afternoon, with some work thrown in for good measure.

Sorry to have missed you James.

Cantata was elusive on the Imray stand. An enjoyable day out, bought an inflatable for very little money and a mooring thingy.

On the outside pontoons was a secondhand Hanse 32 for £60,000 - the only sign of near reality so far as boats were concerned.

Shall go again next year.

Sorry to have missed you, Roger. There was this vague description given to me that I couldn't place. I was there from about 4:45 for an hour, though, as the girls on the stand found a bottle or two under the counter...
