Despite the press I enjoyed a day at the show. It was less packed so you could get round and talk to exhibitors. There wasn't the mass line up of sailing boats of past years but you could get on the ones that were there. I wasn't worried about the non sailing stuff and generally ignored it (except the electric super car which was facinating and beautiful - the chief engineer gave us a really good briefing on it including how he charges it while taking his lunch at the garden center!) Achieved more that intended, got some good buys and importantly obtained a lot of information.

Still an awful place to get to but found free parking very nearby and the breakfast from the cafe there was just what was needed after 4 hours on the road and before going into the show.

I have to agree. Shame hallberg rassy and the more niche brands weren't there. I always enjoy them. Decided I want a southerly and deep pockets to go with. everyone was really helpful and lots of deals I got £300 knocked off the quote for a fully battened main :D

Also enjoyed it yesterday - not too crowded. Not interested in a new boat, just the chandlery stuff and found plenty of people willing, and with the time, to not only discuss their products, but also their sailing experiences too, which was useful. Using public transport made life easy. Wouldn't go every year, but I certainly found it worthwhile.

It remains a good day out so far as I'm concerned, in fact I talked too much and had to go twice to see enough. I'm just a tad disgusted at the car parking cost but haven't been brave enough to look for free parking in the area.

Went Tuesday and yesterday. Yesterday was busy by comparrison, and the bike show was heaving in the afternoon.

Enjoyed it. Hopefully all the bad press on here won't in itself put exhibitors off showing, or people going. We are lucky to have so many manufacturers under the same roof, and can't help feeling that all these 'doom and gloom' posts will be a self fulfilling prophecy.

Just drop down to the other side of the DLR and drive around. I was no more than 200 yards from the entrance! If you are prepared to walk for 5 to 10 minutes there are plenty of options. (PS - keep it to yourself!)
