Lewmar windlass

To keep the Rocna anchor seized in the stemhead I need to pull the chain quite hard with an electric horizontal Lewmar windlass.If i use some rope to fix the anchor it is not thight enough to prevent the anchor to move.Is that bad for the windlass to be always under tension when sailing.Many thanks

Shouldn't be a problem. I've done the same for years with my Lofrans windlass.

I also have a Rocna which I need to keep tight and I do this with an anchor hook on a length of rope via a cleat inside the anchor well(my windlass is inside the well).I know that manufacturers of windlasses recommend easing the pressure off the windlass when anchored but the weight of the anchor alone(unless it is massive) I wouldn't have thought would damage the gearbox.

Windlass manufacturers advise against riding to the windlass when anchored to protect the gearbox from shock loads, which can be severe when the vessel suddenly comes up short on the chain. Repeated shock loads are not relevant to the OP's question, but neither is the weight of the anchor. The tension on the chain and the gearbox in the situation described could be as much as the maximum pull of the windlass. If the boat were mine, I would not be happy leaving the gearbox under that amount of strain for an extended period and would find some other way of securing the anchor.
