Hi All,
Have tried searching the forum but have not found any relevant results for my question.
I am looking for an external cover for our Lewmar hatch, have had the hatch craze on previous boats due to the frost/ice damage and would like to prevent this from happening.
I also found that with the frost/ice directly on the hatch last Winter that it condensed badly on the inside (don't stay onboard) and then froze and then dripped off when it warmed up in the day. I then experimented by putting the outboard cover roughly over the hatch the following evening and when I checked the following morning the hatch was dry inside and out.
I'm having a problem sourcing this type of cover though. I spoke to Force 4 who said their supplier doesn't have the size we want in stock and they won't expect anymore in till at least January!! This was for the "blue performance" cover which is the only one I have managed to find online. I have also contacted a few other chandlers regarding the Blue performance and they all give the same answer.
It's a standard Lewmar Size 30 hatch (roughly 400x500mm). Is there any other make of cover that is available "off the shelf" without having to get the local sailmaker to make one??
