For all those kind forumites who had asked about my court case on Thursday, the letter arrived this morning.

£200 and 6 points!!!

Doubt if I could expect better than that for 101.7mph.

Sorry not having a points system over here plus the fa\ct that you get hung drawn and quartered for minor speeding offences and let off lightly (9month ban) for totalling five cars sending 8 people to hopital, involving all the emergency services and doing 80+mph, I do not know what that equates to.

Can you still drive? was £200 that bad? In my mind, and I am not being insulting, I thought you got off lightly as I take it there are 12points on a liicence(??).

In 1989 I got banned for 14 months and fined £350 for doing 78mph in a 35mph limit open road no one about at 2.30 am. I thought that was harsh but now realised the ban probably saved my life.

Excellent news!

If I recall, you said you wouldn't be able to attend my leaving bash tonight because you thought that you were going to be banned for n months. Now you have another excuse to celebrate, see you there at about 7:00. The Fox in Gosport, curry & chilli will be served at 8:30ish. Bring plenty of beer tokens.

Not bad? I think it was brilliant! I can even pay the £200 off at £5 per week although I'll probably just get it over with. I sent a letter with my guilty plea that was one of my better ones. I explained that the 3 points existing on my licence were incurred on the day my mother died and that my kid brother was hysterical in the passenger seat (this was true but I was worried that it was also my birthday and I thought he may have read something into that).

All in all, a great result and a heavy weight off my mind.

<font color=blue>That will teach you, you damn criminal. Next time bash an old lady over the head, blacken her eyes for good measure and if the bother to prosecute you they will give you £200 and give her 6 points for hurting your fist.

Apparently not Arthur. Check if your systems in the States are the same as UK though. Our fixed speed cameras here are very easy to spot (deliberately so, by the strength of public opinion) so the ones which could catch you out are the police hand held ones.
Enjoy your trip to the UK

Re: Seconded

I must have got this from my late father. He was once offered a directorship of a mate's company purely for his letter writing prowess. I think they were the largest exporter of sheep's heads, which got him a lot of ribbing from the family. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
