Funny how the forum generates such different, some really quite anal, responses to similar things, here for example...

Still well done Molly, and to be fair well done you for encouraging your daughter to get in and get involved rather than been just a passenger. Possible it made all the difference in this instance?

Good on the couple of lads on the jet-ski, nice to hear there are some good sorts out there.

As per story told, all is well that ends well.

Funsize, I agree about the differences in the responses, obviously it gave me a shock, and I thought long and hard about whether to post the experience.
There are lots of things that can go wrong, this scenario I had never even considered and generally most of the replies seem to appreciate that.

On a funnier note, I asked Molly what she was thinking when she saw me hitting the water, she said she turned around to say to her mum what an idiot I was for jumping in, then she realised that her mum wasn't on board!

I didn't detect any differences. All were in praise of Molly and pleased that you survived intact.

Interesting, and I'm glad there were no long term ill-effects.

As a sailor, I am always on the fore & side decking (& cabin top) tweaking sails, reefing or furling them, setting fenders & warps. Difference is (I think) that there are always plenty of handholds & rigging to hold. Decks are anti-slip treated too, so it is rare for me to slip. I seldom feel the need for harness or lifejacket unless the weather is poor.

Now, I am no longer in my first bloom of youth (see avatar) & I was considering switching to a MoBo if & when I find sailing too difficult. Suddenly I'm not so sure that MoBo's provide a safer environment! Especially given that engine failure is catastrophic rather than just annoying! Feel free to flame (blatant attempt to steal thread)
