To reduce added weight in the forepeak of soon to be fitted electric windlass, I was going to go for about 30 metres of calibrated chain and the rest rope. Any reasons why this is not a good plan? (on about to be acquired Sadler 32)

I have a hatred of warp ever since on one occasion (in the Solent) it got trapped between the bilge keels at the turn of the tide (Sadler29) and I found it nearly chaffed through. I now carry 50m of chain which is adequate for all my normal anchoring. Another 30m of anchorplait is ready if needed but I haven't used it in many years.

Up on Scotland where we are they recommend about 50m chain and 15m warp? Or there shouts.

Today I hauled 50m of chain into our lazerette until our new windlass gets fitted. It weighs an absolute ton!
