Lastminute holiday tips please

Hi, I would appreciate any advice you could give me on companies where I might find a last minute sailing holiday....

I'd like to go on holiday with my girlfriend. She has no sailing experience whereas I have only an American competent crew course (whatever they call it) which I took two years ago. I really want to learn more about sailing whereas she is interested, but would like to do other things also (so spending a whole week on a boat is out).

We had settled on a Sunsail club in Antigua, (to get the sailing/beach mix) leaving on the 24th April, but it turns out that departure is full. Which brings me round to dates:

I'm only free 20th April - 12th May, and I have to be at a wedding on the weekend of the 4th on top of this. All dates after the 12th are ruled out due to her job.

We're both in our mid-twenties and live in Paris (if this rules anything in or out).

I'd appreciate any suggestions, since I'm getting worried we might have to take some tacky package holiday instead.

Thanks,
bfs

Plenty of companies advertise in the mags - suggest you buy a copy and work your way through. If you dont want too much sailing action then maybe Greece would be good.

Why not look at www.westhighlandsailing.com they have various sizes of yachts on Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal. The weather has been outstanding here for the last few weeks. The important things are, the sailing is easy, there is plenty of non marine things to do and everyone is very helpful and friendly. I am sure your girlfriend would enjoy herself.
I have no relationship with the company other than knowing the owner and the staff.
Hope this is of use to you,
Iain

Suggest www.euro-sail.co.uk, they have a small school based at Vilamoura on the Algarve in Portugal. Martin their chief instructor(and so much more) not only imparts a lifetime of experience in a calm and friendly manner but also puts plenty of effort into ensuring that everyone has a really good time on board his boat. He was our introduction to sailing a few years ago and from stepping on to his boat with no experience at all we have now bought our very own !
Weather is warm and usually dry at that time of the year, cost of living is cheap and there are some lovely places to sail along that coast.
Enjoy!
