Last outing

that would have been John Knight with the Fairline Sprint you were talking to!
He is now getting a new engine and is expected to be back in the water early in December - close to the original estimate of July 6 th........
He has gone away for a couple of weeks but will no doubt turn up on the Poole event with or without boat........er best add him to any list!

Cheers, thought I was going mad!!

Re: Saturday 14 DEC

So, we've got the accomodation sorted, the agenda's set, the masses know where to amass and the alcoholic content of the day is set. The weather, well thats going to do whatever it likes! But what about the tides. If we're going to swanage, weather permiting, then boats such as col's will never get onto Stone quay if the water isn't there.!

Re: Saturday 14 DEC

what we need then is someone who understands the upping and downing of the water,

my tide thing gives the tide on the up at 12;00 gmt at portland. i would guess that swanage would be about an hour after that... but then i regularly play with mud!!!

Re: Saturday 14 DEC

Is there an actual meeting point/time arranged?
Some are staying in a different hotel. Is there a preference. If so why?
Or actually theres plenty of time to all switch to the same hotel. I'm not sure if the Travel Inn do the same deal with brekkie thrown in.

Re: Saturday 14 DEC

Right, I'll have a go then, but don't take it as gospel. LW on the 14th will be at 1239gmt. Tide hight will be 1.3mtrs above chart datum. So with a charted depth of 0.5mtrs at stone quay, that'll make a total depth of 1.8mtrs at LW. So if we take its going to take 45 mins from the quay to swanage, we should be going with the tide. If theres any south in the wind its going to get lumpy round old harry area. So we'll take the tide out and with luck if we can prize duncans fingers of the bar in the Red Lion we should have the tide with us going back! If the wind still has a bit of south in it then it should be fairly calm'ish going back to poole! So no sea sickness there then!!

What the draught of your boat col.I reckon that your is probably the biggest going and it'll draw the most. Is 1.8mtrs at LW going to be enuough for you?

Re: Saturday 14 DEC

That's plenty, 1.2Mtrs + is fine.

ok then here we go.

meeting pint to be arranged but provisionally the quay at poole. the holiday inn is nearer, cheaper, and has a late bar (waste of time for up drunken slobs!)

deal is room 50 quid with brecky. Mrs Woman vitoed going to the travel inn on holes bay, the only reason i wanted to go there is 'cos some others said they were booking in... never been one to follow the crowd... not! but she's got a good point we've stayed in most of the local cheapies... (don't even go there!!!) but have to admit the holiday inn is good.

hope to see you there, steve.

Re: ok then here we go.

OK, Holiday Inn it is then, and the quay at 11:00 as in an earlie post, yeah. Are the boaties able to take all the non boaties or....not sure how many others. I have 2 teen girls who want to come as I am going to be away for Xmas & New Years. Would that be a problem re. space?
