This afternoon's job was the removal of an entire wiring loom without breaking any connection behind the dashboard and only removing connectors where they actually interface with the final item. Find me another mechanic in Christendom who can do that in one afternoon and I'll say three Hail Marys. Now it all has to go back again.

The logical place for the smileys, Richard, is alongside your whimsy, not tucked away in another ever-so-cleverly cryptic post. Now, I'm well well aware from your writings over the years that you are highly technical astute and your comical remarks clearly sat incongruously with that. But other readers may not be. Some may even find you not funny at all, although I find you hilarious.

The smiley relating to the wiring loom is supposed to be a sort of "resigned smiley" at the thought of putting it all back again when I start the re-build. I'm not the best on electrics but needs must.

I fitted a tow bar to a car a few years ago but after much faffing around with a multimeter, I had to drive the damn thing to a local auto-electrician who works from home so he could do the final connections. He only charged me £25 which was very reasonable but I was frustrated that my skills were not up to the job.

If you mean that I've revealed that I'm an adherent of the Church of Rome ...... then I fear that you will be disappointed when I fail to join you in the celestial host, all in due course, naturally.

If you mean my reference to being the finest mechanic in Christendom (the Church of England variety, natch), then I've said that so many times in the last 14,000-odd posts that I'm even boring myself.
