France is a lovely country but to us expensive.

Portugal welcomes immigrants and many are moving here from UK and US but highest number are from ... France!!

Portugal issue residents visas to nearly everyone thatbwant to move here providing you are economically sound €780pm income.

Portuguese is difficult to learn especially as so many Portuguese reply to us in English.


Most Brits give up trying to learn Portuguese as you can get by so easily in English.


Stingo just uses trying to learn Portuguese to get maidens into his bed!!

Yes Portugal has been very welcoming....but most of those incentives are time limited. We did think about moving for financial reasons...and the wife is a fluent Portuguese speaker....but we found we just like it here

Reading about your wife's language proficiency and your reliance on her she has obviously drawn the short straw in life marrying you However one does wonder what attributes may be lurking unseen in you to make her marry you. Desperation perhaps.

I didn't know there was such a thing. I'd love to get one. Every bloody thing here seems to come wrapped in plastic. What do you do with the composted plastic?
