Do any of you wise forum items know how to remove the steering wheel boss from Lewmar steering binnacle? I have removed the 4 Allen screws but it won't budge. Does it require serious brute force or is there an easier way? I need to remove it to refurbish it as the 'paint' has begun to peel off. Any ideas how to 'repaint' it? I have attached a picture. Thanks in anticipation

On Rogue, with a Whitlock pedestal, I used one of those puller things you can get from Halfords. You need to be able to hook the arms behind the boss, which you might not be able to do.

Some kind of puller will be the solution - hopefully someone here will have a better idea than me.

As Davidwf says - if needed, try boiling water...

Firstly though it looks from your photo like the woodruff key is still in place on the shaft... Not sure if it's blocking removal but don't lose it!

After that I would expect the assembly to just pull off.
