Keel and Iron Floor Bolts

I have some like the keel bolt taken from my boat built in 1963. Replaced from memory around 1989 so less than 30 years. Galvanised mild steel. Replacements were already going 3 years later when I dropped the keel comp-letely. New ones were 316 stainless well sealed and still seemingly sound when I sold the boat on 2019.

Doesn't answer your question but your photo brought back memories!

Wildly optimistic guesses! The coach bolt was installed in 2008 by me. The keel bolt was fitted in 2010 by a professional yard.

I have now pulled another 20 or so floor bolts which were damp/salt encrusted/or showing signs of electrolysis with the copper fastenings. They show some signs of the loss of galvanising, but no wastage of the bolt. All installed by me in 2010.

I am now looking at trying to pull some of the larger keel bolts, in the hope that the first one was rogue. It is the only one that was weeping rust internally.
