Has anyone any experience with Justyachts wires internet?

I signed up for wireless internet from them on Friday and have had a real problem.

You connect to their base station which takes yiu to an intranet web page. You then enter username/login and you are allowed access to the net.

Problem is it keeps kicking me back tot the intranet web site after a few minutes/seconds and I have to re-log on -- very annoying.

It seems to do this particlarly when you view a pagee with pop ups. Tried pop up blockers and that doesn't help.

They use an 802.11b wlan. I have a limksys 802..11b/g external card.
They only set it up this summer and I have to wonder why they didn't use G.

The website is hopeless.http://www.justyachts.ws looks like its been hacked and they haven't bothered to fix it.

I remains connected to the base station fine, and also I have connected to other wireless lans for hours on end without problems.

I also tried a second pc with inbuilt wlan and that didn't get on any further.

I have left three mesages with them since Friday, but they have yet to repond.
Finding their number was a challenge in and of itself. The web page is crap. The sign up page on the intranet has no details. They are not in yellow pages. Finally found the number thanks to one of the marina staff.

Does anyone else have a view on the service because I am a little concerned its a bit of a scam.

Cheers,

Nick

Website...

The website works, apart from the homepage. Try going straight in here. The "About Just Yachts" link at the foot of the page gives you full postal address, phone number, etc.

Bearing in mind the fact that they only seem to have 1 coastal marina signed up, it looks rather expensive. I guess you paid by credit card; if the service doesn't work, just cancel and tell your credit card company that it's a disputed transaction.

Don't know how much you need to use the interweb when you're on the boat, but had you thought of using your mobile phone to connect? I do this on occasion, and with images switched off on the browser it's a quick and cheap solution which can be used almost anywhere around the coast.

Re: Website...

Thanks for the link. Apparently they get hacked from time to time.

I just had a call from them. They are sending someone ropund this evening, so can't complain about the service now I guess

We are pretty much full time live-aboards and only go hom once or twice a month. I have been using GPRS, but the cost is pretty high abd its slow and since swmbo will be working more from home (well boat) the speed is useful. She is a graphic designer and the files she tends to deal with are pretty huge.

All the best,

Nick
