Just seeing this post now, Sawdoc, and just happen to be reading 'This Thing of Darkness'. I don't read a lot of historical novels, but I've read a good few factual accounts of Fitzroy's story. I must say I'm enjoying the book, and I imagine it'll enlighten fiction readers and encourage them to research further; even if they don't it will surely give them a sense of the man's calibre and contribution.
