Only a few drops of rain up near Ely! But I saw there was a long-lasting storm around Brightlingsea. What thunderstorm? I heard a bit of rumbling but thought it was my wife’s stomach.
Thanks Roger, a beautiful photo and no thirds in sight anywhere! It shows the whole of this gorgeous smack with enough grey/brown sea ahead and astern to reinforce the impression of speed. I'll bet she's a wet ride!
may I give her your email address? Thanks Colin. Is she based on the Crouch? I'll try and give them a photo or two.
She was Brightlingsea based for some years but I believe moved to Maldon in 2020.Thanks Colin. Is she based on the Crouch? I'll try and give them a photo or two.
One of the rare times I was glad to be in the Wallet - the Dengie disappeared but it all missed usThere were qite a few, very localised. We had finished collecting data at the Ray Sand (twixt Crouch and Blackwater) and running up the 1 degree E meridian (the short cut up to the Blackwater) with 12kts of SE (oh I hate anyting (sic) with an E in it!) when the sun went in and the black cloud over the Dengie Penisula came east at a rate o'knots. Wind veered to NW (well it might have backed! ) with 20+ kt at the leading edge of the storm avec beaucoup de eau. Vis disappeared leaving us grey sea, grey sky and a nice 'whipping' sea. Temperature didn't drop... well we didn't notice nuffin in the wheelhouse. We finished the ginger cake.
