JFM

A shame as I found his posts extremely informative, a real loss to the forum, unlike some who we could do with losing!

I was lucky enough to go and service John’s boat and a few others once in the SOF , a great bloke .
His input on this forum has always been invaluable , he once helped me out of a small hole when I made my point about a certain Volvopenta parts supplier that sold shall we say less than quality parts , based on fact that I was the engineer fitting the less than desirebale parts I made my viewpoint .
some days later my reprimand was in the post from the mods , of which I had to remove the post as the said company had complained to YBW , funny though isn’t it that the company in question place an advert every month in the magazine.

JFM you are missed .

JFM was a great contributor and I was grateful for his expert advice. Kind of what this forum was meant to be. Unfortunately some more recent contributors are significantly less helpful and in my opinion the forum is worse off for the change

What a shame, I enjoyed his posts and comments.

I had a similar problem on another Forum, but not with the moderators of which I was one...!

Eventually, the protagonists moved away and I am now actively participating in that Forum again. I did lurk though whilst I was away, several years, I do hope JFM is doing the same and will be back soon, he is missed....!

This sums it up quite nicely for me. The advice given by contributors such as JFM , VolvoPaul and Latestarter when he posts is generous to a fault and worth reading. I think the build thread of Match 2 was fantastic. Hopefully Paul continues and JFM returns !

Vas pops up on her now and again. There is usually some wild and wacky upgrade on MiToS keeping him out of mischief, generally involving a Raspberry Pi or something similar.
The quality of response on this forum is not as good as a couple of years ago, and that might be why some folk choose to play elsewhere?

Fully concur with all the JFM comments above, I'm another one that he helped (off the forum) when we were in our purchasing process and there was a bit of an iffy element I needed help with. His breadth of knowledge and insight into so many matters is sorely missed. It is such a shame he doesn't contribute any more as his experience in all matters boating was such an interesting, informative and fantastically useful aide to us as we embarked on our bigger/coastal boating fun. His post were always the "go to" ones whereas now I've got to admit I seem to be using the "ignore" feature where I never did before and haven't felt the need to on any other forum. so, yes, a real shame he's not around here any more but I can sort of understand him leaving with what supposedly happened and some of the general atmosphere/behaviours on here, especially if there are other good boating forums to go on.

The answer to that of course is for the people that feel that way to step up to the plate. 2020 has been a horrible year for boating so it has to be a given the movement and content will dip accordingly. Lets hope 2021 shows more than a few of Bouba's forays for a cheeky hour. At least someone is getting out.

I agree with all the comments above.
On a selfish note, over the years, I have been taking advantage of his advice and I am wondering where I will get such good advice in the future.
I particularly refer to insurance.
JFM negotiated a good deal at Y insurance which was made available to us on this forum.
With the take over at Y, I am worried that I won't be able to buy such good cover.
Looking back through this forum, JFM's insurance is due for renewal a coupld of weeks after mine.
If JFM is reading this, please, please, we would like your help in things like this.
