Jet skier jailed in th IOM

This lad should be given a gong. Talk about true grit. Nothing was going to stand between him and a chance for some canoodling. And who said romance is dead?

Sadly camp hill is a large site which could be turned into housing for honest corkheads which the home sec is sitting on - amazing that a government which espouses home building for those disparate to get on housing ladder won’t release its many acres of vacant land on IoW but even worse situation in northern island with all those unused bases .

I had the impression, from my recollection of a case in the newspaper a few years ago, that the IoM prison was pretty tough.
The one on Victoria Road, Douglas was but then they built a new one in Jurby.

Games Consoles in each room and recently allowed mobile phones! Prison ones, recorded lines and only pre approved numbers but still!

If he walked Ramsey to Douglas....I’m Santa ?

The first time i went to the TT two guy's from Glasgow had beaten and robbed another man. 1965 IIRC.

They were birched and removed from the IOM by the next boat.

An old friend was a junior for the Examiner, the Manx newspaper. She interviewed them as they were put on the boat.

They were very keen to leave and never come back again too!

A friend on mine was receing in the IOM for a road rally - probably about 10years ago - and he was reported by two individuals for dangerous driving. He only knew about this when he received notification in the post sometime afterwards. A court hearing went ahead in his absence and he now has a lifetime driving ban on the IoM and he received a 12month ban in the UK. All based on the ‘evidence’ of the individuals.

What was his defence? Dangerous diving is after all hardly a trivial offence, as demonstrated by the sentencing rules. The way he drives falls far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver and it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous.

TBF what he did was potentially dangerous and he fully admits it. He overtook approaching the brow of a hill and luckily there was nothing coming. He didn’t go to the hearing - I’m not sure if he was even invited.

The interesting part about that case is whether a boat user can be forced to take a breathalyser test by a Port Authority. Roadside breathalysers are only indicative of alcohol consumption normally followed by verification with a proper in house machine, there are also procedures to be followed. Peel Ports aren't the Police?

Previous incident. On the Medway with Peel Ports the local authority.
Dredger ran into a moored line of yachts.

"It is normal procedure for the Master, Officers of the Watch, Pilots all to be breathalysed at the soonest convenience (which is not always possible). It is also not uncommon for a list of any prescription medicine to be requested and if required a blood test taken. If the vessel is fitted with a Voyage Event Recorder that will be downloaded or the disks removed for analysis. The vessels owners have stated that the MAIB has been informed as per the rules and they will conduct an investigation as will Peel Ports but neither of these nor any recommendations or the apportion of blame will happen until the investigations are concluded. The investigations will cover all aspects such as vessel tracks, telegraph and helm orders, conditions, whether the moorings were positioned as stated on charts etc. The law states that you are innocent until proven otherwise and that process takes time.
