I would like to buy boat like that:

I would like to install a 60 HP engine. In place of the drive, I would like to install a jack plate instead of a bracket. The jack plate will hang like a bracket. Why doesn't anyone do this, what problems will I have?

I believe the bracket you mention is commonly know as a Gill Bracket.
I had a boat fitted with one 150hp, The boat was available from Cranchi with either stern drive or Gill Bracket in the late 80s. using the same transom. Cranchi's prototype was fitted with a 235hp 2 stroke.

Most people who use a jack plate tend to boat in very shallow water....the boat runs best when it’s hung at the correct height on the transom....usually the fins on the outboard are level with the bottom of the boat

Susp[ect thee answerr as to why nobody does this is because it is a daft idea.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve with this and your other thread. It does not seem to make sense to buy a high speed planing sportboat and then tack a 60hp outboard on the back. The outcome will be an unbalanced boat that is not capable of achieving planing speed but too much power for sensible displacement and a hull shape that is no good at displacement speed. If you want a displacement speed boat, then buy one. If you want a planing sportboat then buy one and accept that you need a powerful engine to use it properly and that it will not be good for sustained displacement running.

Yes i ment Gill Bracket.
Tranona, im trying to learn something here :) After the replies in the previous thread, I gave up on the larger boat and chose a smaller one.
Now I know that she won't fly100 km/h :) I gave up on speed. Now I want the boat to just float :) and to accommodate a family of 5.

if you fit an engine too big for hull speed you add extra weight aft upsetting the balance of the boat, and extra cost
