I\'ve found the cheapest marina in the Med

In the North of Sardinia on the brink of the Bonifacio Strait and the Magdelena Islands/ Emerald coast etc. is Castelsado, a new marina and for my 37 footer one night was 17 euros. If you want a whole year it would be 700 euros.

The most expensive was Porto Cervo at 120 euros/night for the same facility.

How did you find the trip across from SOF, was Corsica/sardinia worth it? I only know Emerald coast and Bonifacio...

We blasted from La Napoule (near Cannes) to Calvi in 4 hours (100 miles) and worked our way down the west coast of Corsica which is spectacular, to Bonifacio (more spectacular) then down to Sardinia to Algero where we are now based (on the Ryanair route)
Bit windy sometimes (understatement) so be prepared to hold up in marinas for a couple of days here and there.

Bonifacio/Alghero

Amazed you actually manged to get a mooring in Bonifacio at this time of year, did you book in advance or hang around all day? Bonifacio has to be the most breathtaking sea approach in the med...unless someone knoes better. Is Alghero a permanent base now?

Ryanair Stansted to Alghero return is currently £120 but I would expect that to go down after peak season. Alghero marina is great, next to the very beautiful fortified city. Just water and elec no showers but for the year I pay 1800 Euros. 24hr security and a great owner/manager of the pontoon .
There are boats of your size there.

That sounds absolutely Ideal! I don't need showers, got my own, water and elec, needed, so no problem there. Does the place die in the winter? I do want some enjoyment in my time off, but do not need discos? clubs etc, just a few restaurants bars etc. I have my motorbike, so vcan get around, stern to moorings as usual? Thanks for all your help and info, I dont want to use you as a berthfinder!!

Yes it will die, relatively, but there were still many bars/restaurants open last November and tourists still coming in on Ryanair/Hotel package deals (paid £4 for a flight last year!). Your bike will be handy because the supermarket is about a half a mile from the pontoon.
There's a great pizza place where you buy it by the metre (open all year round)
Just PM me nearer the time and I can help put you in touch with the pontoon guys

Re: I\'ve found the cheapest marina in the Med

David,
The main reason I was asking about flights, was so my company can fly me to Norway, for work. Do you knowm if other airlines fly down there from Amsterdam or London etc. I guess as long as I can get to Rome, it would be OK. But it does sound ideal for me. I was looking for somewhere, Barcelone this year, then cruise around French/Italian rivieras and the islands and end up there for winter time. I like to stay put over winter and catch up on maintenance. But like the goodish life! Thanks again for your input, I'll print these and keep in my file. Bye,
Colin.

My guess is the Rome route would put you with the rip off normal european flight operators.
Have a look at the London Stansted Airport website and I'm sure you will find a cheapo airline from Scandinavia. From memory I think there is a Malmo-Stansted but that could be a few hundred miles from Norway

Re: I\'ve found the cheapest marina in the Med

Flag carriers aren't rip-offs, if they ever were- that has all changed - thanks, in part, to the so-called low-cost operators.

CCS is actually right with the cheapest and most convenient routes to Alghero fro Scandinavia. Rome and Milan both serve with Meridiana (very cheap) and also Air Lib/ AOM from Nice and Paris are also cheap gateways Braathens have operated the route directly in the past (I think) but I undersand that has now stopped (?)....

Agree Ryanair VERY cheap to Alghero BUT schedule is not an easy one to link with over Stanstead.
