How do you do that then, the mile saving bit? Is this approaching from the West, you don't shoot the Torsa Beag/Luing channel, heavens above?

No, I draw too much for that (and having seen the latest Antares survey of that gut I won't even try it unless in a kayak or my wellies).

I keep very tight to the north of Torsa. Normal route is to the north of the awash rock at 56 16.0966 N 005 36.3610 W, but I keep inshore of the other awash rock at 56 16.0026 N 005 36.4660 W and don't turn SW until I'm clear of yet another awash rock at 56 15.9645 N 005 36.6805 W (OK, the saving's probably nearer 3/4 of a mile).

More than once I've been overtaken by the same vessel going past Torsa, then at the Cleit rock, and yet again after I've cut through Easdale and they've gone the 'safe' way round (I'm not necessarily slow, there are some folks who always seem to be in a hurry).
