ITAMA 42 Man 700,s

What bikini tops or bottoms? Sounds like you've got the wrong sort of russian friends... :D
I bow to your greater knowledge of Russian bimbos, Jimmy! What do you suggest they clip the harness to? Their nipple ring perhaps?

wow what can I say nice purchase. I never knew you where so close in this.

The foredeck of the Itama is actually very safe more then people think, because of its flash layout. No bumps and rides along the way. Please do not put any railing on it ;)
The Man 700hp are very reliable and a mechanic told me good things about them, while asking about the same engine for a client but on a different boat.

As I told you in a previous post the 42/48 is in my opinion nice as much as the 46/50 if not nicer because of its two spacious cabins. As you are aware both the guest cabins in the 46/50
are bunks.
The only thing missing which the 46/50 have (and I like it a lot) and the 42 does not have is the exterior galley, but I am sure this can be retro-fitted.

What can I say if you conclude please post some pictures!

I took your advise and I,am homing in on on a 42 -I feel trip to Naples coming on next week .
No I will not fit guard rails ,I'll try it as is first -but if push came to shove ( no pun intended ) we could rig up a kind of lines between the mid cleats + bow cleats. However on has to connect a female to it .Or I will place the forward fenders .

The Itama is definately at the correct end of the mobo cool wall.
I think so
Viewing this next week in Naples

They've even thought about the fender storage so as not to spoil the style. Excellent!

Beautiful machine portofino, but are you happy forever to navigate without radar?
They do a "roll bar" twin stainless tubing for those who must have radar , sat tv etc
It not on my wish list at the mo .Ive only used Radar in the SOF once in 9 y .
Hoping not to miss what you don't have ? Primary use is basically a swim platform and toy to blast around on in the sun .My hearts taking over from my head in the decision to go down the ITAMA route
Here's the dash -it s a bit retro ,but it's growing on me
Any thoughts on the tiny plotter anybody ?
We will live with the cockpit for the first season -I think the wet bar is under the helm seat .
I fancy fitting ice maker somewhere -

AFAIK the factory only fitted radar arch and hard tops on the 60, the 70, and 76. I have seen only radar arch on the last two.
70 and 76 are the same boat though they have some style differences both inside and out. 60 is also the old 56 but with a complete new interior and cockpit.

Might not be as old as you think given that Lorenz are still in business. I reckon you should live with it for a season and then, if it really grates, think about replacing it with a new Lorenz which will probably fit into the same space.

Spot on.
Actually, the only bit I don't agree with is the adjective "primary", because I can't actually think of any other/secondary use of an Itama...

Re. instruments, forget the radar or the plotter size: none of that stuff really matters, on a machine strictly designed for day cruising in glorious sunshine.
All you need is a good knowledge of the nicest spots around whatever will be your home port.
And on good days, you can pick your choice, hammer the throttles. and enjoy the ride.

Oh, and don't dare forgetting to post some pics! :)

I am late to this particular party but I do have an Itama story. A great friend of mine bought a 40 or a 42, about 6 years ago because he loved the styling but was very disappointed by the performance. I dont think he had 700HP MAN's, (I seem to remember twin 460's ?) but his boat only just got over 30 knots..... fast enough for some, but not if you have specifically bought a med dayboat, where speed matters, and made worse by the fact that the company had promised him 40 knots flat out ! The final straw was the day I came flying past him on my old Cranchi Med 50 (admittedly puffing a bit at 33 knots !) ! He was not at all happy and boat was up for sale by the end of the week......
As with all boats, and perhaps especially for Med boats, the key is to decide what you want to do with the boat, and then buy the one that best does that.... Itama wins on style and timeless good looks, but i am not convinced on either performance nor on practicality. A magnum is a better bad weather open boat IMHO, a Hunton is a faster boat, a Pershing is a more comfortable boat etc etc..... and there are quite a large number that do the day out / picnic / lunchboat role better than the Itama......

Dont let me put you off though..... we all know boat choice is as much about the heart as the head, and there is no doubt that you will have a tonof fun with the Itama ! (with or without the bimbo's !)

The 40-48 range and the nomenclature at first glance is quite confusing -iam not an ex employee of Bletchley Park .
The detail is in the beam s , basically there all are 13 . Something M long
There are some 38, 40 ,s 3.81 M B. cat 375- Man 450 Hp
40 ,s. 4M b Man 450 hp
42/48 I think share the same hull ( diff layout ) 4.16 M B but with Man 700hp
46 4.5 MB. Man 800hp V8's. or MTU 762 With or without Arnesons .

Cruise on the 42 /48 is 33Knts. Max 37/38 .
Iam sea trailing a 42 in Naples Wednesday -with a mate to act as second more rational pair of eyes ( brokers organised a diver to clean up the sterngear ) .so we wack it up to 2200 rpm and see where we are?
But mentally I,ll be happy with eco cruise 30 knts -with a bit more ( 7-8 ) under the palm of the hand if needs be .
Also I have short listed OTAM 45 and I have looked at Magnums but prefer ITAMA .
Arnesons -coming from outdrives -i would like a break in maintenance please.
Real attraction is deep V and smooth ride ,or translated in "man boat ' language -being able to crack on in a chop while others slam .

I see there's a nice NW mistral going to blow through the W Med this week so we'll all be interested how the Itama handles that;)
