ITAMA 42 Man 700,s

Guardia Finanzia
"did us" as we left Roma .They were in a smaller arneson powered patrol boat blue light siren etc
So we heave too,d
Took 45 mins went through all paperwork ,
I had BoS and the
Dicharazione Di vendors Di imbarcazione
The license marcatuura CE
Reluctantly they passed us and gave it all back
I guess we can thank the broker for this and the Italien skipper -you Defo need a local fixer on this type of jaunt .

They 'did' us off the east coast of Sardinia recently too. In our case they seemed to take most interest in our passports but also asked for the insurance and registration certificates but nothing else. It took nearly an hour whilst they messed about doing heaven knows what. Did they give you a receipt afterwards? That could be quite useful to wave in the faces of any more officials who stop you.

Great looking boat btw. Love the way the bow flares. Did she perform as you anticipated in terms of speed, seakeeping and fuel consumption? Shame you only had 1 day in Elba; it's a beautiful island

Congratulations Portofino and thanks for those latest pictures. Like the whole Itama range, she is a beautiful boat for sure. It looks like they did a very thorough job prepping her. Is she now back in LaNap?

That is sad news about Apreamare. I thought their Maestro range of trawler-esque boats would be keeping them busier. What a pity.

MapisM, the AnCam (2 seasons on) is a great bit of equipment imho. When I installed it I thought it was "nice to have" but now I realise it is more useful than I ever expected so it is elevated to "very useful to have" in my books :-)

Mike F - they did not give me a receipt - Yeh a bit "ring twitching " just please the paper work stacked up - and no Euro,s owed on it - they also looked at all the passports / insurance doc etc .
I,ll deflag it -broker recons to do it -I have to send him most of the IT paperwork back .
in the meantime its UK part 3 SSR + red duster will be hoisted -I will hair dryer off the decals .

JFM -there where a few Maestro about in build - but I think this years build No,s are in single figures ?
Advantage of the prep there was every thing + workmen on site -eg the passerelle rope was wrong so broker went away and came back with some sort of elastic rope handle and ss fitting -changed it for me -few bulbs out in the cabins -so same again went away5 mins later new bulbs appeared + fitted .
A tool box appeared + much more .- new flare pack + new life ring .It has a liferaft -in date too-handy for this trip
I,am pleased with the deal and how I have been treated all I came in contact with -thus far

Ride and handling is better than anticipated -it seems to like (sweet spot - low 1700 ,s rpm) @ this cruise was 31-32 knots
consumption according to the Man gauges (which I like approx. 20 parameters to look at )at 1740 is 85 L /h per engine - I can live with that.
when you push the throttle FwD -there is no hump or need to use flaps it -just surges forward remains same attitude -hard to tell how fast the initial planning speed is ie when it pops up -
from 1500 rpm the response is lively -slight touch fwd of the throttles and instant inc in speed -no hesitation
Bearing in mind Barts recent post and a 400 mile + del trip I did not WOT it .
At the sea trial with dirty props Wot was 2150 rpm 2m waves 38 knots .
even with my vovlo Kad 300,s I never really went above 3100 rpm (wot 3700-3800 )

when you are driving it it feels like ,and in some ways sound like a WW2 MTB or German E boat - over powered
I can imagine a couple of torpedo tube on the bow - it the modern day hull + power equivalent - well it seems to me

It should arrive La Nap Wed ? Thur ?

You wouldn't want it anyway.
While Deleted User suggestion makes good sense in general, since you will deflag her, the boat would appear as a different animal in the event of a future control.
And showing the receipt of a previous control made when she was IT flagged could only risk further delays/questions.
Besides, as a non-IT citizen helming a non-IT boat, your risks of any claims upon controls while in IT waters is as close to zero as it can get.
Just avoid filling the cabins with illegal immigrants, and you'll be fine! :D

Each to their own on that, I like a live view (also of the bottom) both before dropping the hook, and while recovering it.
Otoh, I do see the point of it, in some installations - I actually suggested it to Portofino, after all...

Thats a pretty impressive fuel consumption for a deep V hull with shafts at such a high speed. I guess that is one advantage of fitting big engines in that they don't have to work very hard at any speed. Sorry to hear that the Apreamare yard is quiet. AFAIK, it is a very old company with a long history and I hope it pulls through

All tucked up safe n sound at La Napoule
