Is there such a thing as a \"Birds boat\"

I was stuck in traffic behind a Merc SL55 the other day, and remebrered that this is reckoned to be a "Birds car". Now, I quite like them, so I don't know what that makes me (and Jeremy Clarkson).

But what I'd like to know is, is there a marine equivalent, i.e. a "Birds boat"?

My first thought was that any boat without the largest engine options might be a "Birds boat". Unfortunately that would categorise our friend TCM's boat as one, so perhaps this logic is a litle flawed.

Sometimes I think mine's a bird's boat with the amount of crap I have to keep cleaning off it.

Definately a Binliner, Looks tarty when it's young, but wrinkles soon appear, needing masses of makeup and restorer.

Bad tempered ugly and miserable in old age...../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

A birds boat must be welded firmly to a wall with a long row of retail outlets and a good cake shops on it..It must not move under any circumstances.
No "room" should have any bare patches and should be covered in Laura Ashley floral crap to match the flowery carpets.
Ps.Just look at any brokers photo of boat interiors for horrid proof of same.
PPS.do not forget those naff wall lights with tasselly shades that look like they have been lifted from a cowboy movie saloon bar.

Re: Speaking of Birds & Boats.....

Pretty sure she'd opt for a Riva.

And let's face it, perhaps they do make the closest thing to a Merc SL that floats.

(Must include the pink leather option though).

But how about a Finnmater 7050 for the boaty version of a Suzuki Vitara?

it was the SL 500 AMG that was listed as somewhat gay, i believe. Agree that all SL's are fairly girly.

But boats? Yup, most sunseekers. Also those Bladerunner superfast 4-seater things.

Re: easier to express in the negative

and to say what's not a birds boat. I took my wife to see a trawler conversion some years ago and she said, "Tub Innit", so its probable that a boat should reflect a ladies view of the herself and be a posing platform. So either "fast" or "big" but not a bit run down and with noticeable bumps and scrapes, thereby deleting anything I might own, all of which now suffer under the generic reference of "tubbinnit".

...but shouldn't we be hearing from the ladies about this?

A birds boat needs to have sleek lines, be fast, lots of windows[ to be seen ]storage. buckets of it. Small kittchen for coffee making and heating up ODD meals.
Easy to step off when they wear dresses. and not to heavy to pull around when the helmsman gets it wrong! Or so I have come to believe .

OK, so judging by the 'school run' mob in their Amazon busting 4x4's, that never go further off road than a blocked paved cul-de-sac.........

Perhaps a Hardy 42, or a big Targa might capture their imagination. Just the thing to tootle down the Thames in at 4 mph.

Nice high view on the flybridge, and comfort in knowing that they can just shove a Sealine S28 out of the way to reverse moor outside the nursery. Mmmmm thinking about it a steel Pedro might be the biz.

Re: Is there such a thing as a \"Birds boat\"

what about the sleek lines, you can't call any of the 4x4s on the road that!
flybridges nice in winter but sports better in summer/ f/b have more storage, but sports more fun. nothing wrong with sealine 28s. they take quite a big sea well,
Not all girls think big is better when it comes to boats.

You cant beat a 40 foot cigarette or fountain to pull an all action girl.

In my view if I meet a woman and they like flybridges then they are too posy for me. If they like sports cruisers - Fairline etc. then they are far too family orientated and I run!

Have you ever sat in one? Great fun for a adrenelin buzz but hard on back and shoulders, so after a run, trying to get out in a manly fashion, to impress ladys does not work if you are creaking!!!!!
