Is there anywhere to eat in Chatham?

Chatham marina has been open for a few years now, but there still seems to be no evening eatery other than the ghastly pub. Are there any alternatives in walking distance?

Incidentally, the cafes in the MM are good and not the usual rip-off found at 'heritage sites'

Apart from the dreadful pub you have to go miles.
A word of warning, on the Dock walls are the biggest mussels you will ever see, A gentleman from southend thought he would try moules marinere on his boat.
Unfortunately he got the biggest dose of salmonella & campilobacter seen by the environmental health in many a year and damm near turned himself inside out!
Neither had he thought about the nuclear subs that used to live there in less environmentally responsible days, probably why the mussels are so big!

I headed back down the Medway last weekend to catch the TDF. On the basis of the less than encouraging replies so far, decided to give Chatham a miss and cadged a mooring at Upnor. Its a different world. 4 pubs to choose from and a welcoming Medway YC. 3 of the pubs are not bad at all, and in spite of that, I still got to see the TDF, briefly.
