Tony, thanks. I guess the exasperation is what feels (on this side of the debate) a mix up apples and oranges. OK, if the boat is tricky to turn 180deg in a wind then warping it round is a good technique for a skipper to have up his sleeve. The exasperation however is that you mix up that perfectly good problem/solution combo with the classic yacht sticking out, which is an entirely separate problem/solution and which is the one that we all focussed on (justifiably, in light of the drafting of the WNS, imho), despite the fact the classic yacht is a red herring so far as the 180deg spin is concerned.
