I did the update and subsequent updates 8.1 8.2 etc and it's like I now have a virus that is a speed killer on every task.

My iPad is now a mat, I don't use it anymore

Anyone been to Apple to find out what the problem is? I'm heading there soon.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Apple!
I have an ipad2 which up until v8 was brilliant, since i updated it's been very 'buggy' and very slow. Im currently running v8.1.1 and it is a slight improvement over v8 but still 'buggy' randomly stops working and various apps close all on their own. Because of this ive not been tempted to update tov8.1.2. I dont know how the updates have effected later models of the ipad so cant comment.
Im no IOS expert but in my opinion Apple have seriously messed up, and the only explanation i can come to is that Apple dont want people using 'old' products like the ipad 2.
This is a real pitty as up until this IOS update, i was a real fan of Apple products.

As with all updates - have a look online and see what others are saying about it.
Invariably someone else has upgraded and had the problems that you're going to experience.

Even then, unless you have problems with the current installation, don't upgrade straight away - give it a few months - you'll probably benefit from the bug fixes that will be released in the interim!

Ultimately, why do you need the update? If you don't need it and your iPad is working fine, don't upgrade.

I went to the Apple Store as I have the same problem and they told me how to uninstall the update. Not yet tried but the latest bug fix has made it better but not as good as before.

I have an ipad2 running 8.1.1 with no problems.

Just had a look and yes 8.1.2 is available but it only seems to relate to ringtones purchased through iTunes - think I'll give this one a miss if it may cause other problems

Apple Store in Covent G told me it isn't possible to uninstall Ios 8.
I now use the IPad a quarter of what I used to as it's now just too slow. Bu**ered if I am paying for a new one.

The first move to 8, really knackered my I pad 2, following advice I emptied it of all music, videos and pics and did a few restarts which slightly improved things. The next two updates have eliminated most of the problems, so now it's useable again albeit a bit flaky.

PITA having to load and unload gigs of material.

My advice would be if you haven't updated to 8, Dont!!

These issues were well trailed on user sites and even I recall on the forum a month or so ago.

I decided a while ago to never take an IOS update without researching user feedback from a wide fora of users

The overwhelming ' don't go near IOS8 with an iPad 2 or iPhone 4 ( both I which I have) was pretty much unanimous.

Mind you I dropped my iPad a a week or so later so now have an iPad air 1 which runs it fine ( although I think I preferred IOS 6 which is what I was running)

It is very frustrating that Apple do not allow you too unwind an 'upgrade' which another reason to research it to death before you do it

If you have been backing up your IOS devices on iTunes--yes groan-- then it's possible to go back to an earlier version of the back up. I don't know how it's done, one of my boys did it for me some time ago :ambivalence:

Glad I stuck with version 6.1 on my ipad 3, not a fan of the new look. I doubt there's many features on 7 or 8 that I'd use, it's mostly a web browser for surfing forums and watching youtube.

I'm not sure this true anymore...each release of iOS and Apple lock it down a bit more..not least of it is that it 'encourages' people to buy the next hardware upgrade

Apple control iTunes and have repeatedly tightened the window you can restore the previous release

My iPad is running on 5.1.1.

and it is still running fine. When I look at the updates they only show 8.whatever. I am very sary of updating something that is working, but I do want to update my Navionics app which only runs on 7.0 ...

What does the panel suggest?

If you want to run particular apps then you might not have any choice. I too am suffering a bIg drop in performance since ' upgrading' my iPad and wish I could go back to the older version.
