IPad 2 iOS8 update just killed my iPad

It is possible to reset an iPad as the blurb says " back to the day it came out of the box" or something like that. If so, what OS would it have. The OS when you bought it or the OS when you do the reset?

am not keen on updating os too quickly (ipad, phone, or pc).
prefer to hang back a bit.
my ipad 3rd generation appears to be running nicely on 7.1.2 (just checked & that's what it is / that's what it's running).

so, thanks for the heads-up about ios8+ (will steer clear for the time-being) :)

Apple Store in Covent G told me it isn't possible to uninstall Ios 8.
I now use the IPad a quarter of what I used to as it's now just too slow. Bu**ered if I am paying for a new one.

You know if they don't fix it, I'll drop Apple like a rock. If I do, my intelligence in regards to computing will Sky rocket if I picked up an alternative product!'

Apple make most things easy!

Ipad2 isn't powerful enough to run ios8 properly. I managed to reverse back to ios7 but one bit of apple chokehold is that they have to approve any os installation, they call this signing. A quick look on the mac forums suggests that Apple have now stopped signing ios7 so it looks like you can't go back. Another problem is that if you have backed up with ios8 the backup can't be read by an ios7 installation so you need to have an old backup you can revert to. Not looking good IMHO

Quick update: formatted 'erase ipad' again as no improvement was made first time round thenDidnt use it over Xmas but had it plugged in to wifi and the internet (restoring from cloud) and now my ipad 2 works fine. Weird (lastest ios update 23rd december 2014)

Bit late into this but youngest son updated his 3 year old iPad 2 to iOS8 some time ago (not long after it came out) and it's been running fine, no problems. Don't think there's any particular reason an iPad2 should struggle with iOS8 so hope you've got it sorted now.

Update to iOS 8 on ipad2,
Having updated several versions of iOS 8 and encountering lots of apps stopping / not working and an iPad which was painfully slow, it now looks like the latest one installed today on my ipad2 (iOS 8.3) is a vast improvement.
Have apple finally released an iOS which will work on an iPad 2?
Who knows, only time will tell........

We have 2 x ipad2's 1 x ipad 3 1 x ipad4 and an ipad mini1 in our house (adults and kids) and all are running the latest IOS fine. Its important to update the Apps.
