Went to Carentan for DD+60.
Great sail from Christchurch to Cherbourg, Motor sail round to the Barfleur light ( inner passage).
Another belter to C1 Carentan buoy...
Had a great time..
But on the way back on Monday no wind at all so motored ..vis not bad ..but Radar on...
I was off watch and out like thhe proverbial light when the two on watch saw what they thought was an American destroyer... But nothing on the radar at all..
Then I was sent this by a crew member today ..

Anyone else had a spooky experience like this ??
How much is a radar set going to depreciate ??
Cheers Bob E..

S**t!, I don't mind the Swedes having that technology, but the thought of the Yanks zipping around unseen is scary, but it will be all right. They won't have collisions, just a blue-on-blue incidents, and therefore not recordable - so nothing to worry about!!!

Ah well, back to the microlighting, it will be safer.

Not sure if I was seeing things, but there appeared to be a flying RIB buzzing around the Solent on Sunday. Flying as in a couple of hundred feet up, as opposed to just skimming the surface. Mind you at least it wasn't creating a wash!

All very well this stealth stuff, but they are quick enough to complain if we do not carry radar reflectors, it works both ways. Anyway why the need for stealth in the Channel of all places, the most congested shipping lane in the world!!!!

That's the b****r. I thought I'd seen most everything till I saw a mobo fly. Wonder if they do wings for Fairlines, Princesses, etc, etc? Then, as long as they don't start dropping on us, we can have the water to ourselves. Ho Ho. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
