Hi guys
On by Beneteau Swift Trawler 34…a spring inside a door lock has broken…
As you can see it is very small. No brand name. Can anyone suggest a source for a new spring ?

None…not even a country of origin
I had thought about reversing it but it is not an elegant solution

It looks to me as if you could just swap the unbroken spring into the broken one's place and it would work fine? Or have I got that wrong?

Yes….then the handle would spring back when you push it down (which is the main function) but it will just move up without resistance…so it could rattle

This looks to be the right lock A and C (although the one shown is anti-rattle) - the form factor and locking knob look spot on. Might give you a lead as to where to get a spring.

Try taking it to your local Castorama, Bricorama, Leroy Merlin etc and see if they recognise it.
I doubt it is anything specially made for Beneteau.

I needed to replace a mirror in my boat (which was built in Canada) which had chamfered edges and need to be a very particular size.
I was expecting to have to get it made up at my local Castorama. But just in case, I checked the standard mirrors. They had the precise size and type!

That turned out to be the cheapest bit of boat I have ever replaced.

Since it is out, take it to a locksmith?
Is there a metalworker/blacksmith (as suggested) or locksmith in your area?
Spring wire is available and can be wound to make new springs.
In my work as a piano technician I need to adapt and remake springs, obviously not to the gauge you need unfortunately.
Simply cut the heads of a few nails, draw new springs on a piece of wood, bang in nails and bend wire to shape.
Does actually work.
