Interesting Roller reefing line idea

Hi,

I cam across a roller reefing line that looks like 10mm braid on braid - nice and strong as well as easy to handle.

The interesting part is that the final (roller end) appears to be stripped of internal braid. I assume this is intentional and to make the final few m easy to coil on the roller, and save space, whilst the handled end is a nice thick rope.

I assume being braid on braid it has hence lost 50% of its strength, but as this is 10mm this should be of little concern.

Thoughts?

This is used quite often.Mine is the same.I have seen some lines where the outside layer is stripped leaving the inside layer as the thinner section.I asked a rigger and he favoured stripping the inside as yours(and mine) is.
