Hi All,
Any one else on here insured with Nav and General? I have just received my renewal that has been increased by £60. They have just been bought out by GEO, £25 of the increase is to cover the admin costs of the buyout, I think this is a bit of a cheek, so after being with them for some 15 years I am going to look around. The boat is a Seaward 25 any body on here got any recommendations.

I suspect this might be down to a change of underwriter as well as the broker being under new ownership. In the past N&G was a brand of Zurich insurance so what was sold was brand plus systems and most importantly customer base. When buying a broker a certain degree of book loss always occurs but if the underwriter has changed this might account for part of change plus of course as new insurer you might not want certain business in the book so you raise to price out to rebalance profile. Put simply it might be your boat is not in sector GEO wants . In terms of other brokers try Craftinsure,Haven KJ and there is an outfit called Porthcawl I believe of whom I know nothing. You will also find on web a price comparison websitePCW) -I tried them out but prices quoted not that great. Lastly before taking a cheaper quote ask about the company on here as price isn’t everything of course.

Visicover was best value I could find (price vs cover). They paid out quickly on my dad’s totalled light aircraft last summer when he landed upside down in a field (he was fine!)
