Urgent.
I'm having problems trying to get 3rd Party cover for US East Coast and Caribbean, for 36ft sailboat, as the company I've been with say the underwriters are now ruling those areas out.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Try other insurers, but i think that they will want a survey and possibly a 'business plan' of what you are going to do.

I am in the same boat and will be going to other insurers shortly

good luck

I can understand a survey, but why would somebody want a business plan for a pleasure cruise?

You could try these guys james.alsford@ghinsurance.com, don't know what they are like personally, but came highly recommended by some friends. I'm still waiting to get a quote from them, as I am currently with Pants. who upped my insurance premium by £200, my excess is now £500, and I have gone 3rd party only with them for the time being.

Oh the joys of a small boat in the Med.

If you are having trouble getting insurance cover then it is in your interests to convince the underwriter that your case will be fine
Survey says boat is fine
Your buisness plan say what you will do and how and hopefully convince him that all will be well

There was a recent post in (I think) liveaboards on this one where the poster eventually got his cover from a US based company. Next time my insurance is up I intend to look into this route.

Perhaps you could start with a coy of SAIL (the US mag) and see what the advitisers will offer.
