Inland waterways helmsman course.

If only we had YBW 30 years ago!!
Honeyfluffymommy with the help of YBW outreach workers is
already being measured for her blazer and whites.:D

I started feeling a little mean, so am revealing the number to stop No Regrets exploding, buying up the complete stock of the nearest chandley fenders, or worse nicking everyone elses on A pier... :D

It's A 17 on the same side as No Regrets but about 3 boats away, so safe except on a very windy day perhaps.... ROFL.... :D

I think No Regrets is getting the hang of handling the boat now, you should be safe there :)

As long as there's plenty of Rum aboard, the handling skills are fine.

It all goes a bit wobbly when I sober up though :(

Boating costs a fortune at a gallon an hour, but the Boat is slightly more economical.

I don't like Red either :p

We have moved into our new home. No screams or bumps, more of a bit of jiggling and a gentle reverse.

There's a boat three down from us that looks a bit battered and has a load of bird poo on it not to mention he hasn't got enough fenders. :D

I know what you're going through - I'm learning to helm ours at the moment! The golden rule is go slow!

It's great fun though... :D

We had a very lovely gentleman visit us on Saturday and go through a lot with us, didn't go out, but got some good tips.

Also have someone else who's offered to take us out next Saturday. It will be great to get some on the water guidance to reinforce what we are doing or show us we are doing it all wrong... :D

I would definately advise going out with someone experienced, if you get an offer.

If it was all easy' 'twould be very boring, wouldn't it?

Part of the fun is avoiding other boaters and navigating your boat in style.

Difference between riding and dressage - the nearest simile I could think of...

Well, were not inexperienced as a team and my husband is my main 'instructor' but this definately has his advantages and its drawbacks! But at least we're still talking! You'll have to enter the Ladies Competition in May?

I think we have progressed quickly from riding the blind donkey and are now on the slow shire horse that's just a bit short sighted occasionally but does it in style most of the time. :D

OMG I would be terrified!!! Hahahaha

Like the analogy; your slow shire will stand you in better stead than the feisty racehorse you nearly bought. Good solid dependability is the name of the game - and you've already cleaned up it's feathers....

My normal response to this is 'How terrified would you be if your other half smashed his head in midstream, or had a heart attack'

Don't be terrified, be smart.

You, more than anybody, need to enjoy a little free training, and enter that compo!

You could well win 'First timer' award ;)

My Wife was the same as you, she still is, but not only won top boat for us, would be able to competently helm the boat and occupants to safety if I were too drun....er, smashed my head in.... :D

Being a nurse, I would tell one of the kids to 'spit on it' if there was a head wound... :D Heart attack... I would give CPR and eldest son would take the boat controls over... :D If alone.... He has great life insurance.. :p

Only messing and being a smarty pants.... :D

I have enough confidence to handle the boat in that situation to be honest, but the thought of a competition with people actually watching me screw up...

I am sure in time I will be fine with it though... All experience... :)

Enter the ladies competition you'll love it!

Clubs are great places to meet like minded people who will help you.

My boat is outside BCC on the hard at the moment so please be kind to it :)

Polishing and anti foul to do....
