Inland waterways helmsman course.

Had a great time today thanks to Andy. Learnt how to moor up properly, turn around :D

I did get confused with left and right standing up facing the stern though. At that point I chickened out and handed over to the skipper. ;) all in good time. Lol.

Big thanks to Andy though most appreciated.

That's why it's better to use the words 'port' and starboard' which always reference to the boat itself rather than 'left' or 'right' which will mean different things to the skipper and crew depending on which way someone is facing.

Glad you had a good day. We had a pleasant little run down to Windsor, took a look at the Olympics bridge and enjoyed the sunshine - doesn't get much better than that in March !

Saw you on Saturday and waved, I wasn't on my boat I was tutoring on Mothership who came in behind you at Bray lock and went past you when you were practicing your manoevours!

My She was also spotted outside Bray we said hello to the boat which pulled in front of you with friends who had 3 black dogs running around......then I had to do tuition to get back into the marina on that boat. :)

Fantastic weekend, sunshine and shorts!

Now to get mine back in the water next week.....

Lovely to meet HONEYMOMMY, HONNEYDADDY and HONEYSON on the No1 Pontoon! :D

Also very refreshing to see them arrive as non-committee members to assist in the annual renovation of the BCC Clubhouse, frankly more than 85% of the current members do. :)

Very decent...

Isn't that just typical! Newbies pitching in and helping before they can be voted onto the management.:)

Mate, we need all the management we can get!

I thought being elected editor in 2011 was an honour, but didn't realise the work involved! Some of the committee members put in a working week's worth of hours to keep the members in Mags, Events and competitions.

Some people are just users, others like to contribute.

There are members I haven't even seen in four years  Why join? :p

It was ever thus unfortunately - nothing changes. Spent 10 years on a riparian committee and had to do everything. Now on parole and freedom is great !!!!!!

We felt a little guilty actually. I took over some cookies and brownies for the workers to have with tea, then went off on our boat when Andy arrived. We therefore didn't actually do any of the maintenance as it was all done when we got back. :o

It was lovely to meet you and everyone else. Glad to see the bird poo is all gone too. :p

:D
